History

The Cobbler And His Studio

It was the 1920 when Silvio Ferraro set up in Orgiano, a small village located in the north-eastern part of italy, a studio that was initially aimed at repairing footwear for the inhabitants of the surrounding areas.
Silvio was able in a short time, with the help of few shop employees and his wife Amelia, to let the studio evolve in a workshop where the team started to produce handcrafted shoes.

A Family Business

The untimely passing of Silvio in 1935, along with the desolation arisen as a result of the World War II, severely threatened the survival of the small artisan business. It was only thanks to the iron will of Amelia that all was not lost.
Once the difficult moment was overcome, Egidio, Silvio’s son, taking advantage of a legacy based on an absolute respect for the customer, a strong technical knowledge, and a solid faith in high-quality products, decided to relocate the business within a small factory.
And so it was that the company was able to increase substantially the product lines between the 1960s and the 1980s.

Susimoda As Of Today

The current profile of Susimoda is ascribable to the arrival at the helm of the company of Paolo and Daniela Ferraro. Actually, Egidio’s sons focused their attention towards comfortable footwear.
By working on the shoe structure, the two brothers have been able to assure extremely comfortable fits to Susimoda creations without losing sight of core concepts like elegance and long-lasting quality.
This further evolution of the products enabled the brand to be definitely acknowledged and appreciated throughout the whole Italian peninsula.

Our Point Of View

A global economy characterized by open markets gives infinite chances to share knowledge, ideas and technologies. However, it also brings with it the risk of losing the cornerstones on which a company relies and that characterize the company itself.
This is the reason why, with the objective of exploiting exclusively the positive side of an open economy, we have never relocated our production lines nor repudiated our roots. We are very proud of having been able to maintain through all these years the entire shoe production process in Italy and having, in such a way, also let the craftsmanship of our workers to keep living through our products.
As our story explains, we benefit from decades of experience in the shoe making and we do not intend to lose that knowledge. Of course, we will never stop looking for ways to further improve our products but at the same time we will never forget where we come from.
